New release provides practical Bible resource and comprehensive overview of New Testament

According to a Lifeway Research study, more than half of Americans have read little or none of the Bible, and for those who have read Scriptures, less than a quarter have a systematic plan for daily Bible reading.*

“Most Americans don’t know firsthand the overall story of the Bible—because they rarely pick it up,” said Scott McConnell, Lifeway’s executive director. “Even among worship attendees, less than half read the Bible daily. The only time most Americans hear from the Bible is when someone else is reading it.”**

When Robert Hedenstrom came to Christ at age seventeen, he quickly gave up on his first attempts to read the Bible. “When I initially started reading the Bible, it was a jumble of words like ‘justification,’ ‘righteousness,’ and ‘propitiation,’ interspersed with a few sentences and passages that made some sense but that generally left me frustrated,” Hedenstrom said.

Having since earned his master’s in divinity, Hedenstrom now delivers Everlasting Kingdom: Faith, Hope, and Love in Christ from the Gospels to Revelation (Redemption Press) to help others avoid the confusion and frustration that waylaid his own journey with the Savior. “I wrote my book to provide a clear and understandable book about the Bible, especially the New Testament, while presenting a more inspirational than academic view of Scripture.”

Written as a historical narrative and intended as a practical resource for new Bible readers as well as seasoned Christians, Everlasting Kingdom provides a brief synopsis of the Old Testament, a comprehensive and straightforward overview of each of the New Testament’s twenty-seven books, clear and understandable commentary, and insight into historical and cultural contexts.

“Ultimately, my goal is for readers to experience the gospel’s transforming effect,” Hedenstrom said. “Jesus reveals himself through his Word, so by increasing our knowledge and understanding of Scripture, we can better know and love him.”
