New Release Tells Personal Story of a Wife Devaluing Her Husband in Marriage

Author Dana Rausch says, “God designed our husbands with the heart of a lion. They are inbred with courage and bravery. Yet as wives we have taken what God designed and tried to change it, with disastrous results.”

In a new release, Shaving Off His Mane: Overcoming the Habit of Devaluing Your Husband (Redemption Press), Dana Rausch tells the personal story of how God spoke to her heart about her marriage. As she listened to a devotion from the Bible using a lion and its mane as an example, she heard the Lord say, Dana, you shave off your husband’s mane with just a look. So began Rausch’s journey of first becoming aware of how she was demeaning her husband and then overcoming the habit.

Using candid examples from her own marriage and biblical examples, Shaving Off His Mane addresses how disrespect, controlling behavior, looking back, infidelity, and unforgiveness can slowly “shave off his mane.” Wives who knowingly or unknowingly demean their husbands will be motivated to encourage them and build their husbands up, rather than devalue them. Dana Rausch affirms the biblical principles that have strengthened her marriage of forty-three years.

Dana Rausch is a speaker, women’s ministry leader, event planner, and Bible study facilitator with thirty-two years’ experience in church work, including as an administrative assistant to a lead pastor. She and her husband were junior-high leaders for several years. Married for forty-three years, she is the mother of three adult children, and grandmother of eight. She enjoys reading, writing, boating, and attending Christian women’s leadership and writers’ conferences.
